The START HERE Program
Developing a career is a lifelong process, with many choices and potential changes along the way. Using a set of steps to plan for your career could benefit you now and as you move forward.

Career Planning steps:
1. Self-exploration and assessment*
2. Career research
3. Exploration and experimentation
4. Decision-making and career selection
5. Job search and acceptance
6. Begin job on your chosen career path

The START HERE program focuses on that first step in planning for your career. Our goal is to provide insight into who you are, what you enjoy, and those matching careers that may bring you long-term satisfaction. In the psychology world, this step is called developing a clear "vocational identity." To find out more about the research and importance of vocational identity and career interests, please go to this summary. Overall, career planning is so important because the best predictor of your future job satisfaction is being in a career you enjoy (i.e., high vocational interest).

With that framework in mind, this program has two parts. The first part, you'll do on your own, where you'll take two scientifically-developed assessments (the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and Strong Interest Inventory®). These assessments specialize in summarizing your unique interests and matching career fields. Then second, we'll have a career consultation, where we'll meet to discuss your full reports, explore what they all mean, and develop action steps for where to go from here.
